Arpon the examples you gave of young players not playing in the AHL had a lot to do with the lack of depth the CH had at the time. Fortunately we now have much better depth at Defense. So if the Habs are in a playoff spot after 6 weeks and Reinbacher is killing it in Laval, they now have the luxury to be patient. This is where I agree with MAG where a trade could occur. I can't see where a team in a playoff position would make a change to please a top prospect who's basically only played a half a season in the AHL.
Knowing Hughes history of making trades at the end of the summer, I can see Matheson or Struble being dealt before the season begins.
Arpon is being way too dramatic about Reinbacher. Your point about him thinking he should be in the NHL would be accurate if it wasn't for his injuries. Any sane person would recognize that they've encountered a setback and shouldn't deserve an immediate promotion. If David thinks he should be in the NHL because he already deserves it, I think that alone is a reason to keep him the AHL.
Great episode, great season of coverage - Thanks AB and MAG!
Question for the group or the mailbag - you mentioned that Bergqvist might be on the Swedish World Junior team and that got me wondering what the best guess is for how many Habs prospects will be playing in this year’s tournament?
Dach, Slaf and Demidov. Newhook with Suzuki and Caufield. Kapanen with Bolduc and Laine. Leaving Evans Gally and Anderson. These lines would make a very well balanced group. It would certainly be worth a try early on in the season. We've heard MSL talk often about pairs rather than trios. Each line would have decent pairs.

Salut!
Merci!
